The Centenary Panther
To commemorate the Centenary, Plaxton have produced a series of special edition coaches based on the best selling Panther and Cheetah ranges.
These offer a unique specification package incorporating a number of special features at a very special price. Exhibited at Eurobus Expo in November 2006 was the first of these, a Panther 12.3 based on a Volvo B12B chassis, a touring coach specification, but fitted with the additional option of wheelchair accessibility via a front-entrance mounted PLS NX series lift and NMI stowaway seat location system. The coach was also equipped with destination and handpoles compatible with the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) requirements, making it suitable for scheduled service operations.
The interior is equally distinctive, trimmed in one of three special fabrics, each specially commissioned to commemorate our centenary.
Despite having some of the most technologically advanced features for a vehicle of this type, the most striking feature of the coach exhibited was the livery, a graphic scheme depicting the history of Plaxton coaches. It’s hoped that this particular coach will be available for display at the Centenary event in April.
